In North America, universal design has been embraced as a broader, more positive approach and term

There are many misconceptions regarding universal design.
Myth 1: Universal design is a design for people with disabilities, older people and people in wheelchair.
Fact: To be considered universal, a design will be accessible to people in wheelchair, but also accessible to people of most sizes, shape and abilities. Universal design applies to people tall or short, young or old.
Myth 2: Universal design cost more than traditional design.
Fact: Many universal concepts are standard products and cost no more than traditional products. The degree of customization and quality of the products will have the greater impact on cost.
Myth 3: Universal design is stigmatizing because it looks medical.
Fact: The best universal design is invisible. When done well, universal design enhances both the appearance and personality of a space, as well as the function of that space for a variety of users.
Bathroom designers and product manufacturers are aware of the fact that bathrooms need to be not only safe for all members of family but also accessible for all people, of all levels of physical abilities.
Some suggestion for a safe bathroom:-
To accommodate people with limited mobility or poor eyesight, we suggest placing grab bars in strategic places around the tub, toilet, and shower; installing lever-style faucets, and making sure lights are bright in every corner of the room, particularly the shower.
Swing-open doors present problems for wheelchair users. Make access easier by replacing a conventional door with a pocket door; if space permits, allow enough of an area in the center of the room for a wheelchair to turn around. Install a rubber threshold shower compartment that won’t obstruct entry by wheelchair.
For families with special needs, we offer two systems:-
